DESCRIPTION:There is growing pressure on our natural environment as more people are seeking connection to nature. Land managers are being challenged to develop trails\, manage existing trails as formal assets\, and make decisions that balance the needs of the trail users\, conservation and cultural sensitivities. This two – week online series of webinars shine a light into what mountain biking is\,  and the experiences they are seeking. It will explore key challenges to trail development and operating models of councils to manage existing trails. It will then dive into ways data can help to better understand how trails are being used\, their sustainability\, how business cases and how to visualise and communicate this information back into the community to underpin management decisions\, funding\, and maintenance.   								\n				\n				\n				\n					            \n            \n					Session 1: Dispelling Myths About Mountain BikingTuesday 12 November 2024\, 11am-12pm Where did Mountain Biking originate from\, what is it currently\, and what do future trends mean for Councils and Land Managers?Who goes Mountain Biking\, and what experiences are they looking for?The current MTB landscape – key trends\, trail development Key challenges to MTB trail development (environmental damage\, impact on EEC / flora and fauna\, trail user conflicts\, insufficient demand\, land area required\, outside of council’s recreational expertise\, insufficient demand\, too hard etc).What operational models should councils / land manager consider for mountain bike trails on their estates?\n					\n					Session 2: Telling Compelling Stories Through DataTuesday 19 November 2024\, 11am-12pm The role of data and how it can be used to leverage financial models\, resources and maintain sustainable trails.  Developing successful Business case: How to address the key challenges identified in session 1. Successfully managing multiple stakeholders.Trail maintenance models.\n					\n					About the PresenterThese workshops are being delivered by Rowan Lamont from Blue Sky Trails. Rowan has a lively and inclusive delivery style that is highly visual\, using current case studies along with activities for participants that encourage deeper understanding and collaboration.   Rowan Lamont is a Trail Partner at Blue Sky Trails who specialise in creating the right trails\, in the right place\, for the right reasons. He works extensively with Councils and Land Manager to help create best-practice governance and management frame works\, training and data to successfully provide sustainable recreational trails for communities.   Rowan connects people to nature\, engages communities and grows regional economies throughout Australia.
