SUMMARY:Webinar: Green Infrastructure Management Manual
DESCRIPTION:Green infrastructure has not traditionally been included in asset and financial management plans\, an omission that has often led to its neglect and degradation\, and subsequent waste of the initial investment. The development of the manual is a significant step in having the value of nature in our cities understood\, and will enable asset owners to plan\, protect\, and invest in our natural assets. \nThe Green Infrastructure Management Manual offers practical guidance on 24 types of green infrastructure\, including lifecycle management\, relative risks\, costs\, and value. Packed with case studies\, tools\, and a simple framework for integrating green assets into financial and asset planning\, it helps councils and asset stewards make informed decisions that enhance urban liveability\, biodiversity\, and climate resilience. \nThe GIMM empowers councils\, engineers\, asset managers\, and planners to integrate nature-based infrastructure – including street trees\, parks\, green roofs\, wetlands\, and coastal habitats – into asset and financial management plans. \nTo Register for the webinar please follow the link below: \nMicrosoft Virtual Events Powered by Teams \nPresenters:  \n \nMartyn Glover – Director Infrastructure\, City of Gosnells \nBio: Martyn Glover is the Director of Infrastructure at the City of Gosnells and brings over 40 years of experience in public works engineering. His career spans civil engineering\, asset management and waste services\, following his start as a trainee surveyor in 1976 and a long tenure in Local Government. Martyn is widely recognised for his leadership in sustainable asset and environmental initiatives\, including innovations in road construction\, traffic management\, water conservation\, street lighting and resource recovery. Key achievements include receiving the Premier’s Water Conservation Award for the Mosman Park Water Cycle Project\, contributing to the development of WA’s Guidelines for Subdivisional Development\, and advancing smart technologies to enhance community outcomes. \n \nDr. Jacqueline Balston – Director of Sustainability\, IPWEA Australasia \nBio: Dr. Jacqueline Balston has been an applied climate and environmental scientist for the past 25 years during which time she has researched the impacts of climate variability\, climate change and environmental degradation on agriculture\, natural resources\, ecosystems\, emergency management and the built environment across Australia. She currently works as Director of Sustainability for the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA)\, as a member of the South Australian Government Climate Science Advisory Committee and as a private Consultant to local\, state and federal governments and other organisations nationally.
