Coordinator Urban Forest – Full Time

  • Salary: $121,873 – $129,707 per annum
  • Plus up to 14.5% superannuation (conditions apply)

The City is seeking an experienced and suitably qualified person to provide effective leadership to the newly created Urban Forest team as the Coordinator Urban Forest. In this leadership position, you will be responsible for managing and developing the City’s Urban Forest, covering over 580 hectares of parks plus streetscapes road corridors.

Your duties will include coordinating operational programs, capital works projects, and overseeing field teams to ensure optimal resource utilisation through effective planning, scheduling, and service agreements. This role presents a fantastic opportunity for a driven individual looking to advance their career while making a meaningful contribution to the City’s urban forest and sustainability efforts.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in managing large-scale arboricultural operations, including tree service plans and tree management practices. A strong understanding of arboriculture and horticulture is essential to ensure all services are delivered in alignment with the City’s strategies, policies, and relevant legislation. This knowledge and experience will be essential to the successful coordination of the Urban Forest initiatives and the long-term sustainability of the City’s green spaces.

Your covering letter (no more than 2 pages) will need to address the following key criteria:

  • Extensive experience in developing and managing tree service plans, maintenance programs and practices.
  • Leadership Management qualifications and/or equivalent experience.
  • Qualification and experience in Arboriculture, Horticulture or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience with people management tasks including optimal resourcing levels, onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Extensive experience in project and contract management including tendering processes.
  • Extensive experience in capital works and operational budget preparation, monitoring and reporting.
  • Appointment is subject to provision of a satisfactory National Police Certificate that is no more than three months old.
