AUSTRALASIAN PARKS AND LEISURE JOURNAL (AP&L Journal) 

 EDITORIAL MANAGER

Parks and Leisure Australia (PLA)  is looking for an Editorial Manager for the AP&L Journal and to work with PLA staff and Universal Co. to a develop a superior publication in order to increase subscriptions, readership and advertising revenue.

The AP&L Journal is a print and digital medium that appeals to the needs of professionals who want quick access to research, best practice, and news on changes in the park and leisure industry. Whether readers are consuming the publication in print or digital format, they are getting the best material on park and leisure developments in Australasia.

2019 Editions

• 22.1 AUTUMN Community & Urban Planning | Out 14 Mar
• 22.2 WINTER Recreation & Physical Activity | Out 13 Jun
• 22.3 SPRING Parks, Gardens & Conservation | Out 12 Sept 
• 22.4 SUMMER Events, Tourism & the Arts | Out 12 Dec

The Role

The Editorial Manager is required to:

- Source innovative and leading edge articles for each edition

• - Ensure the publication showcases industry and PLA and NZRA member achievements
• - Brief and chase contributors in order to meet deadlines.
• - Ensure contributions are relevant to the specific themes of each edition.
• - Supply a minimum of 15 x 1200 word articles for each edition.
• - Source images for the editorial and obtain all usage rights clearances for publication.
• - Check all editorial before submission to Universal Co. and submit by the scheduled editorial due date.
•  As Editorial Manager you will be supported by PLA staff.  Universal Co. (also publishers of Outdoor Design Source) are responsible for final editorial control, design, print and distribution. 

Key Dates

• -Open – Tuesday 6th February, 2018
• -Close – Monday 11th March, 2019
• -Position commences – late March, 2019 (negotiable)

• -A brief CV  with a Letter of Introduction [1100 words each]
• -A brief outline of key ideas on the future direction of the AP&L Journal [max 500 words]
• -A minimum of two referees who are able to vouch for your experience
