With the increase in community mental and physical health issues and the urbanisation of our cities, there is a growing need for more and varied recreation opportunities. Local Governments and other organisations alike, are seeing the need to develop recreation facility and infrastructure strategies to ensure opportunities are well planned and evidence based to meet the needs of their community.

This interactive workshop provides case studies and mini-seminars designed to teach participants how to develop a recreation infrastructure strategy in an easy step-by-step workshop format. Participants will hear from industry colleagues who have taken a number of differing approaches to successfully complete similar strategies, and will work together with facilitators, to build a WA-Standard (easy-to-use) checklist that will be made available for all to use.

Upon completion of the workshop, participants will understand best-practice methods for researching, analysing data and developing a strategy, with a peer-reviewed checklist to support the development of such strategies.
