The need for a strategic approach to ecotourism was identified by the Jobs Council for Fibre Processing and Sustainable Development. A draft strategy was released in July 1992 and was widely distributed to the tourism industry, conservation groups, local government and relevant regional bodies. This final strategy has been further enhanced and refined reflecting the comments and suggestions received in the consultation phase.
