Archerfield Wetlands District Park is a vibrant, multi-functional green space that champions sustainability, innovation, and community connection. Located south of the Ipswich Motorway and adjacent to Archerfield Airport, the park transforms former wastewater treatment infrastructure into a thriving landscape that integrates ecological restoration with cultural heritage. With more than 67,000 new plantings, flood-resilient design, and inclusive facilities for all ages, the park encourages outdoor recreation, environmental stewardship, and learning. New facilities for the Oxley Creek Catchment Association (OCCA) further support conservation initiatives and environmental education, setting a new benchmark for sustainable urban parklands.

The Archerfield Wetlands District Park and Archerfield Wetlands Land Management project were recognised as winners at both the 2025 AILA Queensland and National Landscape Architecture Awards, and were also awarded the 2025 PLA Queensland Park of the Year.

Experience the District Park and the broader parklands precinct through a guided tour offering two complementary perspectives: the design intent and project achievements, and the resources, expertise, and ongoing commitment required to maintain the parklands to a high long-term standard.

Archerfield Wetlands is a flagship initiative of Brisbane Sustainability Agency’s (BSA) Oxley Creek Transformation project. The Archerfield Wetlands Land Management project is restoring 150 hectares of degraded green space—one of Brisbane’s largest floodplain ecosystems—into a unique recreational and environmental asset for Brisbane.

This project exemplifies best-practice ecological restoration, community-led conservation, and resilient parkland design. Through innovative land management, ecosystem enhancement, cultural engagement, and sustainable infrastructure, BSA is creating an enduring landscape that supports biodiversity, provides valuable habitat, fosters community connection, and strengthens the resilience of Brisbane’s urban environments.
