AI and how it can be applied in real world planning for open space and recreation facilities,  Stephen Yarwood

Join Stephen Yarwood for an engaging session exploring how artificial intelligence is transforming the planning of open space and recreation facilities.

This hands-on workshop will highlight practical, real-world applications of AI, helping professionals make smarter decisions, improve community outcomes, and respond to changing needs with greater insight and efficiency. Attendees will gain a clear understanding of how AI tools can be integrated into everyday planning practice, along with the opportunities and challenges they present.

Delegates are encouraged to bring along a real-life project or plan they are currently working on, using it as a case study to explore how AI can support better, more informed outcomes.

To ensure a highly interactive experience, this workshop is limited to 15 participants, giving everyone a genuine opportunity to engage, learn, and apply insights in a collaborative setting. You must register before the conference to secure your spot!

Ideal for planners, designers, and place-makers looking to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving field.

Australian Sports Commission – Places to Play workshop

Workshop attendees will be invited to apply their critical thinking and contribute to the final stages of the Australian Sports Commission’s national Places to Play plan.

The session will begin with an overview of work completed to date, followed by a walkthrough of the document’s strategic framework. Participants will engage in guided discussions exploring key challenges identified by local governments and stakeholders nationwide in relation to community sport infrastructure. Attendees will review these insights, help validate the issues, and offer additional perspectives.

Throughout the workshop, similar “check and challenge” activities will be used to test and refine different aspects of the draft plan, ensuring it reflects diverse experiences and ideas.

No preparation is required, just a willingness to think actively, share insights, and contribute to a collaborative discussion.
