Community Based Initiative of the Year
WA
Submission Overview
City of Stirling’s Schools Bushcare Program connects nearby schools with local bushland for regular, hands‑on conservation activities. Over two years, 1,211 students across four schools contributed more than 1,400 volunteer hours, established and cared for 3,500 native plants, and removed 1,159 kg of weeds—building youth stewardship, strengthening biodiversity, improving liveability, and embedding ongoing, teacher‑led environmental care within school communities.
