Installation of the Seniors Exercise Parks and the supportive programs and activities following six park upgrades resulted in increased older people’s park visitation and engagement in physical activity. The establishment of age-friendly outdoor spaces in six Victorian municipalities has created active parks where older people can gather, exercise, and socialise, fostering healthier communities.

This research provides evidenced-based data to inform council decision-making and strategically invest in community programs and contribute to health and wellbeing. By actively engaging women through this process, the aim has been to empower them and ensure that their perspectives, needs, and preferences are central to the development of programs.
