The world is changing at an unprecedented pace, and Australia is no exception. With population growth, diversity shifts, and evolving societal needs, the role of public spaces is becoming more crucial than ever before.
GX Outdoors in conjunction with Place Score undertook comprehensive research involving a mix of direct engagement with industry professionals and decision-makers nationally, a review of domestic and international publications and an analysis of the Australian Liveability Census, and through this, uncovered the major trends and emerging influences in the industry that are or will be deemed of great importance when it comes to designing parks of the future.
Jasmine Ong will explore the key principles for designing public spaces that meet the challenges of the future, focusing on climate resilience, adaptation, and the integration of non-human kin. She will delve into the Climate Positive Design Guidebooks by the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, offering practical tools for Climate Positive Design. Additionally, she will highlight the importance of aligning designs with the capacity of asset managers to maintain the long-term quality of these spaces.
