In June 2004, Crows Nest Shire Council adopted the Crows Nest Trails Master Plan. In October 2005, the Council commissioned Transplan Pty Ltd and Mike Halliburton Associates to undertake the next step – the preparation of the Crows Nest Shire Recreational Trails Development Plans. The main aim of the Crows Nest Shire Recreational Trails Development Plans is to determine a group of 10 walk trails (from the potential trails identified in the Trails Master Plan) for further planning and development. A staged and costed implementation plan for each of the agreed trails is to be prepared. Trail development plans for potential canoe trails on Lakes Cooby and Cressbrook are also to be prepared.
