In September 1984 a study was undertaken of various components of the fauna and flora of Red Bluff Fauna Reserve. Following a preliminary visit, 5 associations were identified, i.e. Mallee Heath; Heath; Stringybark/Pine Woodland; Yellow Gum Woodland and Broombush sites for each association. A map was constructed based on aerial photograph interpretation and ground truthing consisting of 120km of walked transects plus 48km of driven boundary observations. The reserve was shown to consist of predominantly Mallee/Heath (60%) and Heath (35%). Specimens were collected from all associations and a species list consisting of 132 native and 6 exotic species was compiled. Studies were also conducted in two burnt areas.
