PLA Vic/Tas had the pleasure of heading over to the Apple Isle for a few days as we explored what lies ahead for the parks and leisure industry in Tasmania. With sessions in both Launceston and Hobart, we heard from government representatives Active Tasmania as they gave an overview of their services which provide inclusive sport and recreation opportunities to all Tasmanians.
Field of play experts SPORTENG, discussed the design of sustainable fields of play for the future and how to prepare turf for an El Nino summer, while the Australian Football League (AFL) explored their National Infrastructure Plan and Tasmania facility strategy. Attendees also heard from local construction service providers The Baker Group who spoke on the planning, design and management of recent projects.
Overall a wonderful time in Tassie and a great opportunity for PLA Vic/Tas Executive Officer, Dan Ferguson, to discuss next steps and workshop new ideas for professional development in Tasmania with PLA members and other industry professionals. Thanks to all who came along and contributed to the success of the events. Of course, a big thank you to all the presenters for their time and expertise and our event partners SPORTENG and The Baker Group.
