SECTOR ON SHOW RECAP – Carrington Seniors Exercise Park

  • July 20, 2023

Thanks to all who attended the recent Parks and Leisure Australia Vic/Tas Sector on Show at Carrington Seniors Exercise Park on Wednesday 19 July where we explored the benefits of senior exercise intervention and the importance of creating exercise environments that promote active, healthy and social senior communities.

We first heard from Professor Pazit Levinger from the National Ageing Research Institute (NARI) as she shared her research findings and discussed the ENJOY map for HEALTH project, a joint initiative with NARI and numerous LGAs

Following on from this Anna Lawton – Healthy Ageing Project Officer at Knox City Council – gave us an inside view of the project background and delivery before hearing from Sharon Winbanks from seniors exercise equipment experts Lark Industries.

We were also lucky to hear from Annette Biviano, Falls Prevention Physiotherapist at EACH about how they are using seniors exercise parks as part of their client’s rehabilitation programs before heading off to explore Carrington Seniors Exercise Park with the help of some of the parks regular users.
