Proudly brought to you in partnership with

Come along and hear from leading solar lighting providers Leadsun as they discuss their research on the role public lighting plays in supporting safety, accessibility and equity in our public spaces.

The webinar will examine evidence supporting the critical need for appropriate lighting in public spaces, with a focus on areas for informal use that are not covered by streetlight.

The insights are drawn from an extensive literature review performed by Victoria Walks and Webb Australia in partnership with Leadsun. The studies identify benefits of appropriate public lighting for women and girls, gender-diverse people, older people, people with disability, people with impaired vision and those who do not drive or do not want to drive —highlighting how public lighting is an equity issue in modern society.

Shine a Light Educational Series eBooks

Leadsun have developed the ‘Shine a Light’ Educational Series of eBooks (including the recently released Part 2 – Candidate Locations for public lighting) to bring this information to our sector in a user-friendly format.

About the Rec+ Research Initiative

Parks and Leisure Australia Vic/Tas Region (PLA Vic/Tas) and Rec People have created a partnership to bring evidence-based research findings from sport, recreation, leisure, play, parks and open space sectors to the physical activity industry. The joint initiative Rec+ Research is a result of both organisations recognising a need to deliver a dedicated program that identifies and presents the latest industry research findings directly to the practitioners who are responsible for the planning and delivery of programs, services and infrastructure in our communities.

The goal of Rec+ Research is to keep industry professionals up to date with the latest data and research on parks and open space provision and usage, sport and recreation facility provision, and physical activity programs and services. To discuss opportunities to present your research findings as part of Rec+ Research, please contact Dan Ferguson, Executive Officer, Parks and Leisure Australia (Vic/Tas) on victas@parksleisure.com.au or 0432 334 054.
