In 1991, Pavements and Assets Strategy Branch was approached by the Fraser implementation Team to conduct a series of pavement trials to enable an alternative to wood chip and gravel to be developed for 4WD sand trucks on Fraser Island.
In response to this request, a visit to Fraser Island was conducted by Branch staff. The initial report proposed a number of alternative treatments for trial. Four test sites were established in October 1992. Since then, four assessments of the sites were conducted. Three were reported in Assessment Report 1 (DoT, 1993). This report covers the fourth assessment made in 1994.
