LAND SUBDIVISION ADJACENT TO WATERCOURSES

The paper examines the effect of development on land adjacent to watercourses in both rural and urban localities and provides advice to planning and land officers on factors that should influence the design of subdivisions adjacent to watercourses.

The paper was written to help staff of the Department when making submissions to the local government and also when considering subdivision of State land or applications under the Land Act (1994) to issue leases or convert tenure of leasehold land along watercourses. Five case studies of subdivisional design and schematics of subdivisional design responsive to landform are included.
