A History of Forestry and Timber (Maryborough/Fraser Island)

This paper explains the history, forestry and timber in Maryborough/Fraser Island. The vast quantities of timber in the Maryborough area remained unknown for quite awhile, to the people of the Moreton Bay settlement. The boundaries of the Maryborough Forestry District contained forests as diverse as cypress pine, hoop pine, wet and dry rainforests (which we called scrubs ), wet and dry eucalypts and plantations of both native and exotic conifers with part of the second largest plantation in Australia at Tuan.
