Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Plan

The Queensland Government in 2008 was funding the development of three regional recreation trails in SEQ (Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, Boonah to Ipswich Trail and Maroochy River Canoe Trail). These trails were identified as regional outdoor recreation infrastructure projects under the SEQ Infrastructure Plan and Program 2007–2026. The Brisbane Valley Rail Trail recycles the disused Brisbane Valley rail line
to provide an outstanding 148 km regional trail for walking, cycling and horse riding, serving both local and
regional communities.
