Managing and Commercial Operators for Ecological Sustainability Great Sandy Region

Use of the Great Sandy Region has changed considerably over the last three decades. Whilst sand mining and logging, which have now ceased, were seen as the major threats to the Region, managing visitor use was seen as a lesser concern. Past reports however have confirmed that visitors use within the Region is unsustainable, given the existing level of infrastructure and management resources. The natural and cultural qualities of the Region are highly valued and need to be protected. this report contains a series of actions to improve the management of visitors and commercial operators in the Region.
